Alexandra Learning to Trim her own Mini's

Well, it's Christmas Day 2003 and I am out in the pasture with my brother in-law Butch Shields who was kind enough to take a minute to teach me how to trim my own horses. Butch is a self employed horse shoer who also enjoys rop'n (among many other hobbies) in Filer, Idaho. I've heard he is one of the very best and I appreciated him taking the time to help me out with a few trims. I was getting very frustrated paying my shoer $30 a trim even for the miniature horses! With all the horses I now have I needed to learn to do it myself so I could use that extra money on hay instead of hooves!

Well, lets get started!

UPDATE as of 2005: Okay, I am not cut out to trim my own horses! I've tried and I've tried! I really wanted to save money by trimming them all myself but there is much more to it then what I am able to do! Some mini's come in with major hoof problems & its best to leave this stuff to the proffessionals! But hey, at least I gave it a shot! :*)
